]]> Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has announced that the Madaraka Express passenger service will resume on Monday, July 13 following the lifting of the ban of movement in and out of Nairobi and Mombasa.

Addressing the press on Wednesday, CS Macharia said the first train will depart Nairobi at 8am on Monday and is expected to arrive at the Coast at 12.45pm.

The train will then leave Mombasa for Nairobi at 1.25pm and is expected back in the Capital at 6.40pm to provide ample time for passengers to reach their destinations before commencement of the curfew at 9pm.

To maintain social and physical distancing on the train, the CS said Kenya Railways shall deploy 10 coaches for passengers with a total one-way capacity of 600 passengers which is 50 percent capacity.

An additional coach will also be deployed to be used for isolation of passengers suspected to be infected with COVID-19 during the journey.

“The extra coach will leave empty and we hope it will arrive in Mombasa empty because it will be used for only one purpose; to carry any suspected case of COVID-19 detected during the journey between Nairobi and Mombasa and vice versa,” said CS Macharia.

]]> The United Democratic Alliance is a Kenyan political party that initially was called the Party of Development and  Reforms.  It changed its name to UDA in 2024 under the influence of Dr. William Ruto, the president-elect.

It was founded in December 2024 the leader being Dr. William Ruto, Chairman Johnson Muthama, And Secretary General Veronica Maina. The party gained its popularity in January 2024 with its slogan “bottom-up” and the political symbol being a “wheelbarrow”

The wheelbarrow is a symbol of the “ value, dignity and respect of work in pursuit of an equitable society” with an aim of liberal convictism.

After the August 9th, 2024, elections UDA managed to gather a total of one hundred and thirty-eight seats (138) out of three hundred and forty-nine (349) in National Assembly. Twenty-two (22) seats out of sixty-seven (67) in Senate and twenty (20) seats out of forty-seven (47) Governors.
