Coronavirus: Kenya Records 19 New Deaths, 1,048 Cases And 326 Recoveries

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has hit 75,193 after 1,048 new infections were announced on Friday.

The Ministry of Health said the cases were tested from 8,660 samples and pushed the total number of samples tested since March to 823,700.

From the cases, 1,018 are Kenyans while 30 are foreigners; 594 are male while 454 are female.

The youngest is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 90 years.

Distribution of the cases by counties is as follows: Nairobi 408, Kericho 84, Mombasa 80, Kiambu 71, Busia 52, Migori 36, Uasin Gishu 35, Kisumu 25, Machakos 25, Kajiado 23, Siaya 18,Bungoma 15, Nakuru 13, Kakamega 14, Taita Taveta 12, Bomet 11, Makueni 11, Nyeri 11, Kilifi 10, Laikipia 10, Baringo 9, Nandi 9, Kwale 9, Meru 8, Vihiga 6, Murang’a 5, West Pokot 5, Mandera 5, Kitui 5, Kirinyaga 4, Trans Nzoia 3, Embu 3 , Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Narok 2, Tharaka Nithi 2, Garissa 2, Tana River 2, Homabay 1, Turkana 1 and Nyamira 1.

In terms of Sub County Distribution; the 408 cases in Nairobi, are from Lang’ata (83), Westlands (44), Dagoretti North (32), Starehe (30), Kamukunji (28), Makadara (24) Dagoretti South (22), Ruaraka (21), Embakasi Central (19), Kibra (18), Mathare (17), Embakasi South (16), Embakasi West and Roysambu (13) cases each, Embakasi North (12), Embakasi East (9) and Kasarani (7).

In Kericho, the 84 cases are from Ainamoi (64), Belgut (12), Kipkelion East (5) and Bureti (3). In Mombasa, the 80 cases are from Mvita (38), Jomvu (14), Nyali (12), Kisauni (7), Changamwe (5) and Likoni (4).

In Kiambu, the 71 cases are from Ruiru (16), Juja, Kiambu Town and Thika (10) cases each, Kikuyu (8), Kiambaa (5), Githunguri (4), Kabete and Lari (3) cases each, Limuru (2).

In Busia, the 52 cases are from Matayos (29), Teso North (19), Nambale, and Teso South (2) cases each.

In Migori, the 36 cases are from Kuria West (17), Rongo (13) and Awendo (6). In Uasin Gishu, the 35 cases are from Ainabkoi (27), Turbo (5), Moiben (2) and Kapseret (1).

In Kisumu, the 25 cases are from Kisumu Central (18), Muhoroni (3), Nyando (2), Kisumu East and Nyakach (1) case each. In Machakos, the 25 cases are from Athi River and Machakos Town (10) cases each, Kangundo (3) and Matungulu (2).

In Kajiado, the 23 cases are from Kajado East (15), Kajiado North (6), Kajjado Central and Loitokitok (1) case each. In Siaya, the 18 cases are from Alego Usonga (10), Rarieda (7) and Bondo (1).

The Health Ministry also announced 326 new recoveries; 219 from the Home-Based Care and Isolation and 107 from hospitals across the country.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 50,984.

On a sad note, the coronavirus death toll has hit 1,349 after 19 patients succumbed between Thursday and Friday.
